Epic Games has parted ways with Donald Mustard, its formed Chief Creative Officer (CCO). The 47-year-old designer announced his retirement from Epic on his X (formerly Twitter) account, disappointing many players. While losing Mustard is certainly a big hit for the company, the ownership made a great move by replacing him with an experienced person.

Mustard has worked on Fortnite Battle Royale for six years, turning it into a global phenomenon. However, his time with Epic Games has come to an end. With him leaving, Charlie Wen will take his position. Wen is best known for creating God of War’s Kratos, along with many other big projects.

Here’s everything you need to know about Epic Games’ new CCO.

With Donald Mustard leaving Epic Games, Charlie Wen will be in charge of Fortnite

Charlie Wen has been active in the video gaming industry for a couple of decades. He was Director of Visual Development for Sony Computer Entertainment America for five years, working on several big titles, including God of War. Wen is credited for creating Kratos, one of the most popular characters in gaming history.

Epic Games’ Chief Creative Officer also worked for Riot Games for more than eight years as its director and creative consultant. IMDb credits him for nine Marvel movies, including The Avengers (2012) and Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).

Interestingly, Epic Games has collaborated with all of these companies in the past. Jinx from League of Legends (Riot Games) is available as an outfit, along with Kratos. Epic has also had several collaborations with Marvel, adding numerous characters to the game and even having a special Battle Pass for them.

Replacing Donald Mustard will be challenging, as the former CCO did a fantastic job with Fortnite. However, there is no doubt that Charlie Wen is the right choice, and we’re looking forward to his career with the North Carolina-based video game publisher.
