Star Wars Battlefront II players may have noticed that one character has been conspicuously missing from the sci-fi shooter for over a week now — Emperor Palpatine.
The Dark Lord of the Sith was actually removed quitely by Electronic Arts in a recent hotfix, though it wasn't really shouted about at the time.
Turns out that Palpatine was axed (at this time, it remains unknown for how long) as he's just too powerful. One fan video shows the wrinkly bugger rampaging through a multiplayer match, zapping enemies without breaking a sweat.
He could even kill his opponents through walls, which even the movie version of Palpatine couldn't do (and this is the guy who beat Mace Windu, albeit by cheating and pretending he was knackered).
Despite not being available in multiplayer, Palpy is still selectable in the game's offline mode.
Star Wars Battlefront II recently saw a new update that added a Hero Starfighters Mode into the mix. Looking ahead, the game will see a bunch of new characters up for grabs, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Count Dooku, and Anakin Skywalker.
