FromSoftware’s planned release date for the next Elden Ring Nightreign update has been delayed.
Nightreign’s next update, which included the long-awaited duos mode as well as major UI improvements, has been pushed back following a tsunami warning in Japan.
Elden Ring Nightreign update delayed
Originally set to go live today, July 30, the Elden Ring Nightreign update has officially been delayed due to an earthquake off the Kamchatka Peninsula which has triggered a tsunami warning.
At the time of writing, the tsunami warning has led to numerous evacuations across Japan and the West Coast of the United States.
The Elden Ring Nightreign patch will now release just one day later with the game’s 1.02 update now going live on July 31, 2025 at 9AM BST.

As the game’s major update has been pushed back, this also means that the next Elden Ring event is also delayed. Nightreign’s next Everdark Sovereign event, which brings back original bosses in much more difficult forms, will go live “after the update file has been distributed”.
When the update does go live, players will be able to fight enhanced versions of Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast and Fissure in the Fog. While not major additions to the game, Everdark Sovereign bosses have seen a huge boost in player counts with Gaping Jaw’s return resulting in a nice 69% spike.
From Software is far from done with Elden Ring Nightreign. While the game’s post-launch updates have been quite small since release, the studio is planning to add new enemies, bosses, items and more to the multiplayer roguelike game in the future. Of course, no real details have been released at the time of writing.
Following the release of Nightreign, the studio’s next major release is the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive PvPvE title The Duskbloods. After that, the studio has promised to return to more single-player titles that players are used to, but no details have been confirmed.
