Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon will now be released in the UK on July 22, a week later than planned, Namco Bandai has confirmed.

“Apologies to all UK EDF fans of the slightly late launch in July. Trust me that it’s a great fun game for great price. And co-op! 22nd July,” Namco Bandai UK PR and marketing boss Lee Kirton said on Twitter.

Developed by Vicious Cycle, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon sees players fighting off the most concentrated giant insect invasion to ever threaten humanity.

Taking place in the fictional city of New Detroit, the co-op arcade shooter gives players the ability to destroy thousands of giant bugs and turn an entire city to rubble. The Campaign mode lets up to three players team up online to battle the insects and aliens across a completely destroyable city. Each EDF soldier is armed with over 150 weapons and four upgradeable armour sets.

In addition, the game also features a six-player Survival mode that pits a human squad against a non-stop onslaught of the largest bugs.

A limited release is expected so pre-order to ensure you don’t miss out.

The July release calendar is looking sparse so the budget-priced EDF: Insect Armageddon could be a popular option for those wishing to stay indoors this summer.
