As promised earlier in the week, EA Sports has formally announced the latest in their MMA grappling series EA Sports UFC 3, with Conor McGregor as the game’s cover star for the second one running.

The headline new feature is the G.O.A.T Career mode. Rather than punching out farmyard animals (which would be a bit unsporting to be fair) sees you go on the promotional circuit in between fights, tasking you to make choices to build hype, gain fans and earn more cash.

The fights themselves have had their share of attention too, with over 5,000 new animations ‘captured and rebuilt from the ground up’ thanks to a new technology called ‘Real Player Motion Tech’ (or ‘RPM Tech’ for short.) Meanwhile new multiplayer modes have been added to the game, including one called the ‘Stand & Bang’ mode which I’m ashamed to admit gave me cause to giggle. I’m an adult, honest.

Here’s the trailer:

Fight fans won’t have to wait long for EA Sports UFC 3, as it’s been given a February 2 release date for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. As is par for the course these days, you can also pre-order a Champions Edition which will let you play the game three days early and also bundles in some packs for Ultimate Team.Â
