EA Sports has announced EA Sports Football Club, a new persistent online service launching for free alongside FIFA 12 later this year. The service injects new challenges and storylines into the game based on matches that have taken place in the real world.

By taking part in the challenges you can earn experience points and earn redemption for your chosen favourite team.

The new challenges sounds a lot like what EA Sports implemented in FIFA World Cup 2010, in which you could take part in additional challenges based on the outcome of matches during the real World Cup.

FIFA 12 is set for release later this year on all leading platforms.
