After being outed by the Australian Classification Board back in April, EA has officially announced Burnout CRASH!, which will be heading to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this Autumn.

Developed by Criterion, Burnout CRASH! is a top-down racer built around the popular Crash mode. Here, players are rewarded for crashing into cars, triggering explosions and generally causing as much vehicular mayhem as possible.

CRASH! has three game modes, 18 crash junctions and six locations.

The game will also take advantage of Autolog, first seen in Criterion’s Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, and more recently, Shift 2: Unleashed. Using the social platform, players can compete and compare high scores, and go head to head with their friends using a new Autolog Challenges feature.

“Burnout CRASH! is a crazy mix of pinball and game shows,” said the game’s creative director, Richard Franke.

“We’ve evolved the core gameplay which everyone loved about Crash Mode, and expanded the whole experience using music, style and Autolog to create what we feel is the most mindless fun you can have on any gaming platform.”

CRASH! will also be the first XBLA game to feature a mode designed exclusively for Kinect. Here, two players use gesture controls to play on one screen in a ‘party battle’.

Burnout CRASH! is due for release autumn 2011.
