UPDATE: EA's 'redemption portal' appears to be open to UK users now. Just sign into the Origin client and you'll see a prompt notifying you to claim your free game.

ORIGINAL STORY: SimCity owners who activate their copy on Origin before 06:59 GMT on March 26, 2013 will be eligible to download one of eight EA titles for free as compensation for the game's disruptive server issues.

The list of titles available to choose from includes Dead Space 3, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Medal of Honor: Warfighter and, bafflingly, Sim City 4. Take a look below for the full list.

EA says that its "redemption portal" - the site where users will be able to apply for their free title - will roll out on a country-by-country basis, with the site rolling out to North American users by Wednesday, March 20, and to European users by Thursday, March 21.

EA states that the portal will be live worldwide by March 22.

Directions on how to access the portal can be found here.

"Our SimCity Mayors are incredibly important to the team at Maxis," said EA in a statement this afternoon. "We sincerely apologize for the difficulties at launch and hope to make it up to you with a free PC game download from Origin."

It continued: "At Maxis, our studio values dictate that we innovate and create something that is quirky, complex and challenging. Sometimes this bites us in the butt, but our servers are green and we're seeing record numbers of players all online and having a great time."
