The Xbox 360 is the lead platform for upcoming multi-platform third-person action game Army of Two, EA has revealed.

Speaking in an interview with VideoGamer.com, Army of Two assistant producer Matt Turner said the team “put it on PS3” after leading development on the Xbox 360.

However, he stressed that as far as graphics goes “it looks great on both of them”.

Army of Two, which rekindles memories of Epic’s hugely successful Gears of War, is a third-person military action game built from the ground up for two-player co-op. Players control Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem, two mercenaries paid to fight global terrorism.

Speaking on the development of the game, Turner said: “It’s been led on Xbox 360 and we put it on the PS3. It’s because we have more experience in that medium. The PS3 is fairly new with a lot of development stuff. But as far as the gameplay goes on both consoles it’s the same. There’s no differences.”

There is, however, one gameplay difference – PS3 Sixaxis motion features – although Turner refused to go into massive detail: “We’ve implemented the Sixaxis with the PS3 but other than that it’s the same game. You can reload with the Sixaxis. There’s other examples but I’m not allowed to talk about them all.”

When asked if there will be any graphical differences between the two versions as a result of the game leading on the Xbox 360, Turner replied: “It actually looks great on both of them. Our lighting guys are like “oh I can see a pixel that’s different” but it’s right on the money.”

Army of Two will be out on Xbox 360 and PS3 on 7 March 2008.
