Kinect will play a “very big part in the future” of the Tiger Woods video game series, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 lead designer Mike DeVault has told GamerZines.

Speaking earlier this week at an EA showcase, DeVault explained the reasons why the motion sensor hasn’t been utilised in this year’s game.

“It’s definitely something we’ve been designing around and looking forward to,” said DeVault.

“It plays a very big part in the future of the game, but this year the timing was just a little off. PGA Tour 12 ships March 29, so we had an accelerated schedule and the timing wasn’t quite there.

“But there’s an immense amount of potential.”

Motion controls were added post launch to last year’s game on PS3, and fans can expect improved gameplay with PS Move in this year’s Masters edition. The PS3 version will feature the first-person option introduced on Wii last year, along with tweaked controls and balanced difficulty.

All three versions of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters will be released in the UK on April 1.

Given the amount time Kinect must have been in the hands of developers it’s a little disappointing EA hasn’t been able to incorporate the tech into this year’s game.

However, EA’s patched Tiger Woods 11 didn’t make the best use of PS Move, suggesting the support was rushed into the game – hopefully the decision to wait on a Kinect-enabled version will ensure better results.
