EA has released some details on Battlefield 1’s upcoming expansion, Turning Tides. This will be the third expansion released for the WW1 shooter, and will be released during December 2017 and January 2018. The staggered release of all of the DLC ensures that a steady release of maps, vehicles and other content comes to the game over the two months. One of the notable additions will be the opportunity to play as the British Empire: Royal Marines. Season pass holders, and those who own Battlefield 1 Revolution, will get access to the maps two weeks before they become available for everyone else.
Turning Tides will enable players to ‘conquer land, air, and sea in the amphibious battles of the Great War.’ The first wave of content will bring two new maps to the fray. The first of these is the beach-focused Cape Helles, which sees the British forces fighting against the defences of the Ottoman Empire on the Gallipoli Peninsula. The second map, Achi Baba, focuses once more on the Gallipoli Peninsula, but this time from the point of view of the infantry as the British forces make their assault against a fortified Ottoman-occupied hilltop base.
The second wave of content in January 2018 sees the release of Heligoland Bight, where the British Royal Marines and the German Navy go head-to-head in a battle across land, air and sea against the backdrop of Rocky Cove. Players will be able to command battleships and airplanes in battle across the water, while on land the ground troops clash with one another on the nearby cliffs. The second map in 2018 introduces Zeebrugge, which sees players pitted against one another in close quarters combat on the Belgian port, Bruges-Zeebrugge.
There’ll be more content coming as part of this expansion, and it’ll see the return of a number of weapons that players can use during battle. There’ll also be a number of new vehicles, including a new C-Class Airship, a Destroyer, and a new elite class called The Infiltrator, which provides the player with a sprint boost to move faster across the battlefield with the new Infiltrator Elite pickup.
Battlefield 1 is out now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
