Speaking to IndustryGamers, EA Games label president Frank Gibeau has revealed that the publisher has been attempting to create what he dubbed a “Halo killer” for some time and has finally found that game in Crysis 2.

“We were trying to craft a Halo-killer, you know a product that would squarely go after what Bungie built with our partners at Crytek,” said Gibeau. “So the Crysis 2 product is spectacular, very high-end, and is going to be a multi-year franchise,”

In Crysis 2, the aliens have returned with a full invasion force bent on nothing less than the total annihilation of mankind. Players must wield the combat technology of Nanosuit 2, and make the last stand to save humanity from destruction in the urban jungle of New York City.

The game’s scheduled for release this holiday season on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
