EA’s servers have been hit by “unexpected downtime”, the publisher has stated, preventing some users from being able to log into their Origin account and access the online functionality of “some titles”.

Though the affected titles haven’t been named, a post on EA’s website states that “the EA and Origin login function is currently down, as well as Answer HQ.

“This means that you will likely be unable to login to access your account online, cases, forum posts, or contact a Game Advisor. Some titles are also experiencing a temporary outage and may not load or be accessible online at this time.”

EA says that it is “monitoring this outage and… working to restore normal access as soon as possible.”

The server outage follows a DDOS attack on Battlefield 3’s servers earlier this month.

At the time, EA said that “while the motives are unclear, the focus of the attack has been interference with network communications preventing access to multiplayer gameplay. At this point, no user data is involved.”

It is not yet known whether today’s downtime is related.
