Years after Dying Light 2, Techland has returned to its zombie universe for a brand-new adventure. Dubbed Dying Light: The Beast, players return to the shoes of protagonist Kyle Krane following years of brutal experiments.

Dying Light’s Newest Adventure

Revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live alongside games like Borderlands 4, Dying Light: The Beast is a full-length open-world adventure. Set in its own open-world with its own weapons, enemies and even drivable vehicles, players will experience a whole new set of challenges.

While not confirmed, The Beast also seems to tease some brand-new powers for Kyle Krane. Multiple scenes in the trailer tease some form of transformation into a powerful, well, beast. However, Techland has not yet confirmed how players will transform during gameplay.

“Dying Light: The Beast is a thrilling standalone zombie adventure set in a tightly-crafted rural region,” reads the game’s synopsis. “Play as Kyle Crane, a legendary hero who breaks free after years of brutal experiments. Now, he must realize there’s more at stake than just revenge.”

Dying Light 2 is over?

With the reveal of Dying Light: The Beast, it does seem that support for Dying Light 2 is officially over. While this new spin-off does seem to re-use a lot of assets from the AAA sequel, it’s also a standalone adventure.

It’s worth noting that Techland didn’t immediately abandon the original Dying Light after the release of its sequel. This means that the release of The Beast could still result in new DLC and content for Dying Light 2 in the future. However, considering the smaller fanbase for the sequel, that doesn’t seem likely.

Nevertheless, Dying Light’s new spin-off does look like a brilliant time for fans of zombie survival games. With awesome parkour, brutal combat and vehicle gameplay, it does seem that Techland has done it again.
