The creators behind Dying Light 2 have revealed that the sequel has no narrative connection with the original parkour-flavoured zombie romp.
Dying Light 2 was one of the many new game reveals at E3 2018, although at the time it wasn't known if it would have any connections to the first game beyond the obvious gameplay mechanics.
There'll also be a new protagonist to get to grips with, although Techland's keeping its cards close to its chest right now.
As it turns out, Dying Light 2 is set in the same universe as you'd expect, but it's been many years since the events of the original game.
Speaking with GameSpot (via PST), Dying Light 2's Chief Creative Director, Adrian Ciszewski, revealed 'It's not Kyle Crane. It's the same universe, the same virus, but it's fifteen years after the Harran outbreak, and it's a different part of the world, different characters, different story, there is actually no narrative connection to the first game.'
Dying Light 2 was announced during Microsoft's E3 press event on Monday, and is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in 2019.
