The original scope of Lost Planet 2 had to be scaled back because of the storage limitations of DVD, producer Jun Takeuchi has revealed.
Takeuchi has said that a significant amount of game had to be cut in order to fit the game on the Xbox 360’s DVD media.
“The content that was cut was significant,” said Takeuchi. “At the end, we had to wrestle with disc space.”
Takeuchi added that deciding what got cut was a difficult task, leaving the team on the verge of crying as they removed elements to shrink down the game’s footprint. It is, however, unlikely the content will be lost altogether, said Takeuchi.
“I think we could be able to add that content at a later date as downloadable content,” he said.
If such significant cuts were made it begs the question why multiple discs weren’t used.
Lost Planet 2 is scheduled for release on May 18 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
