Industry analyst Arvind Bhatia has stated in an investor report that the recently released Duke Nukem Forever is expected to see sales between 1.5 to 2 million units, according to Gamasutra.

In the report he noted that first day sales of the title through the US were “mediocre”, however the game’s publisher, Take-Two Interactive, “was conservative in its unit assumptions on Duke Nukem”.

Additionally he revealed the game’s performance will not have a direct effect on the company as it was developed as “a one-off title for Take-Two.”

Duke Nukem stormed the UK retail software sales charts in the first weekend of its release, stealing top spot from Rockstar’s LA Noire.

The game itself had a mediocre critical reception, receiving a feeble 4/10 in our recent Duke Nulem Forever review. How well the game needs to sell to be considered a success by 2K is the big question. 1.5 million sales for a game never expected to see a release doesn’t seem too bad.
