The Nintendo DS is the biggest-selling console in UK history.

It’s sold over 10 million copies, putting it ahead of Sony’s PS2, according to data from GfK-ChartTrack reported by MCV.

The DS (10.05 million) nudged ahead of the PS2 (10.02 million) with Christmas still to come. And we all know everyone and their dog who doesn’t have a DS is going to get one before December 25.

The DS, which launched in March 2005, achieved the impressive milestone in just four years and eight months. That’s almost half the time the PS2, which launched nine years ago in November 2000, has been out.

Brace yourselves for some eye-watering statistics: The DS has sold over 5,700 consoles per day in the UK, and almost one in six people own one of them.
