Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma has now sold 1.05 million copies worldwide, with the vast majority in Japan, the publisher has announced.

The new open world game – the first of its kind from Capcom – set a new sales record in Japan, helping the title past the one million sales mark, but much like Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise, sales outside of Japan have been poor.

“Dragon’s Dogma, the first large-scale open world game for Capcom, struggled abroad, but its popularity in the more profitable domestic market exceeded expectations by selling more than one million copies,” explained Capcom.

Capcom also pointed to the continued strong sales of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, which shifted a further 450,000 copies between April and June. 2.1 million copies have now been sold since its release.
