Square Enix is considering bringing its successful RPG Dragon Quest X to both the Wii and the Wii U, according to company head Yoichi Wada during a recent shareholder’s meeting, according to Andriasang.

He added that technical investigations are currently underway to work out how to support the new Wii U.

Last March Square Enix stated development on the upcoming game was nearly complete.

Series creator Yuji Horii said:”I feel that some users will want to play Dragon Quest on the big screen, which is why we are working toward releasing it on Wii. Of course, in the future we might develop on handhelds again, so it’s really a case-by-case basis. It all depends on what the customer wants at that time.

“Something else we hear is that players want a new Dragon Quest that follows the same system of Dragon Quest VIII, so that’s something else we’re taking into consideration while in development for a Dragon Quest on Wii.”

Dragon Quest X has yet to be given a release date.

Many have believed that the Wii’s expiration date was imminent after Nintendo’s announcement for the Wii U, however with the potential launch of Dragon Quest 2 on Wii it seems the console may still have some mileage.
