Dragon Age Inquisition players can expect a similar gameplay experience whether they opt for the current or next-gen version, Dragon Age franchise executive producer Mark Darrah has told Game Informer.

“Frostbite 3 is intended to bridge the gap between current-gen and next-gen,” Darrah explained. “From a graphical perspective, you might have a really high-polygon bridge on next-gen platforms, and a lower-polygon version of that same asset on current-gen.

“One thing we’re striving really hard to do is not affect the gameplay itself, so the experience you have on all platforms is recognisable and as similar as it can be.”

Regarding the PC version, Darrah says it will be the controls which set it apart from the console editions.

“The PC actually is different, especially from a controls standpoint,” he explained. “The encounter construction will be the same, but you’ll have a mouse and keyboard. Dragon Age: Origins had a very tailored experience for the PC, and we’re really trying to recapture that.”

This will be music to the ears of PC gamers who felt somewhat cheated by the console-focussed Dragon Age 2.

Dragon Age Inquisition will be released for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in the autumn of 2014.
