Square Enix has confirmed that the Wii exclusive action title, Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen of the Tower of Mirrors, will be released across all PAL territories on May 9, 2008.

The game plays out much like an on-rails light gun shooter, only now the Wii Remote is used to control a legendary sword and fight off horde after horde of monsters. Players will need to slice enemies with the sword, block with a shield and launch powerful combo attacks in order to succeed.

In addition to eight story mode sections, DQ Swords feature a selection of mini-games that have support for up to four players.

“We are excited to be bringing Dragon Quest Swords to PAL territories,” said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. “The Dragon Quest series is an international hit having sold over 43 million units worldwide, but is still relatively new to Europe. We hope that Dragon Quest Swords will find a place in the hearts of everyone.”

The PAL release also includes revised gameplay which promises a more intense and challenging experience.
