Doom 4, the anticipated FPS sequel from id Software, will run at a faster frame rate in multiplayer than in single-player, the studio’s lead engineer and co-founder John Carmack has revealed to Gamasutra.

“In the Doom 4 project, we decided the multiplayer is 60 frames per second, but the single player is 30 frames per second, so you can have twice as many demons coming at you,” said Carmack.

And as for the ongoing development of Doom 4, Carmack says the core tech team will be moving over to the project once Rage ships.

Rage is set for release on October 7 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
