Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked, the second expansion to the hit indie title Don’t Starve, will launch via Steam Early Access on December 1, Klei and expansion developer Capybara Games have announced.

In Shipwrecked, Wilson and the whole Don’t Starve cast of characters embark on a sea-bound journey of exploration, adaptation and of course, starvation.

To play Shipwrecked you only need the core game and don’t also need to own Reign of Giants.

As an Early Access release you should expect a degree of things being fixed while you play, but it does mean you get to enjoy it earlier than you would otherwise.

“As with Don’t Starve and Reign of Giants, we’re going to be using early access up until the full release of Shipwrecked. Your feedback and suggestions were invaluable during the development of past Don’t Starve content and frankly, we’d be fools to not involve you again when it comes to the development of Shipwrecked,” explained the Capy blog.

“The early access version of the game is fully playable, but there is still some work to be done. The initial version contains new seasons, creatures, biomes, and many other exciting ways to die. As always, during early access we will be releasing regular updates containing new content as well as tweaks and bug fixes based on your input. Remember, we’re listening, so join our forums and share your thoughts!”

There are currently no plans to release Shipwrecked on consoles.
