On July 30, simulation indie Oxygen Not Included will come out of Early Access and fully launch on Steam. It’s the third game from Klei Entertainment – the developer of Mark of the Ninja and Don't Starve – and tasks players with managing the survival of a procedurally generated, fragile space colony. Resources will deplete with the colonists’ first breath, so exploration and excavation are necessary to see another trip around the sun.

The fundamentals won’t be enough, and you’ll reach the summit of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs; ensure the colony doesn’t freeze or fry, and provide them with artwork and leisure time to ward off psychological detriments.

In a post on Klei Entertainment’s forums, developer Graham Jans announced the launch date and revealed extra features have been added in preparation for the big day. These include new asteroids to explore, three new biomes, new buildings, new colony goals and balance checks on food, temperature and more. A full list of features will be posted next week, and Jans promises that the game will be tweaked with bug fixes and balancing into the future.

If you own either of their other two games, you’ll get a 20% discount off Oxygen Not Included, which is tidy. Watch the early access trailer below.
