City Interactive has announced Dogfight 1942, an arcade WWII flight combat game due for release on XBLA, PSN and PC this autumn.

Developed internally at City Interactive, Dogfight 1942 promises “aerial arcade authenticity”, and lets players take to the skies in over 40 historically accurate planes across battles from real world historical events.

Three modes will be included – Dogfight, Survival and Campaign – with each including support for split-screen co-op.

The publisher also promises that Dogfight 1942 will be “the most accessible air combat game ever to be released on these platforms”, with intuitive controls that make flying “easily accessible but hard to master”.

The game’s price will be “typical for digital only games”, City says.
