You’ve probably already heard, by virtue of the numerous “Microsoft killed my Xbox 360” posts cropping up on video game forums/blogs, that something in the autumn auto update was breaking Xbox 360 consoles. Microsoft has admitted that there was a problem with the autumn auto update, which in a small number of cases has caused the updated console to stop working.
A UK statement reads: “We’re working with each customer individually to resolve any problems. Any Xbox 360 customers who have any issues with their console should contact the customer service team on 0800 587 1102.” If you’re in the US or Canada then you should call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX.
The good news is that the dodgy update has now been fixed. Microsoft’s Gamerscoreblog revealed that the Xbox programmers have “replaced the installation code that was causing the majority of the issues that were reported.“
If you’ve already installed the update and are experiencing no problems then your Xbox 360 should be fine.
