The first details on Disney Infinity’s ‘Cars’ play set have been revealed, courtesy of Game Informer.

Set in Radiator Springs after the events of Cars 2, the Cars play set tasks players with encouraging international racers to the town by building new race tracks and hosting an international racing tournament.

The play set also adds new elements to the game’s Toy Box mode, including track pieces and buildings which can be raced through and destroyed. “When they’re inevitably blown up, the destroyed pieces essentially become stunt-park pieces,” the magazine says, “which players can trick off of.”

Four playable characters have been announced for the play set so far, including Lightning McQueen, Mater, Holley Shiftwell and Francesco Bernoulli, each with their own collectible figurine and exclusive missions.

It isn’t yet known which of the characters will be provided with the play set, which will be available to purchase separately, or whether any further Cars characters will be released.

Cars is the fourth play set to be announced for Disney Infinity, following the reveal of play sets based on Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredibles and Monsters University last month.

Each play set grants players access to an additional game world based on a different Disney property, with each said to boast between six to nine hours of gameplay.

Additional play sets are expected to be revealed before the game goes on sale in June.
