Disney Infinity 2’s Toy Box mode will be available to purchase as a standalone digital title shortly after the game’s launch, Disney has announced.

The world-building mode will be available to download across PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U beginning November 4, with players able to use their original Disney Infinity base and characters to create their own Disney-inspired play spaces.

A digital Xbox One release does not appear to be on the cards, however, presumably due to compatibility issues with earlier Disney Infinity bases. Previous communication from Disney has suggested that the original PS3 base will be compatible with PS4, but the Xbox 360’s will not be compatible with Xbox One.

All characters and Disney Infinity 2 playsets will remain compatible with the digital Toy Box, however, meaning fans will still be able to access the Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy campaigns should they wish to purchase them separately.

It isn’t yet clear whether the Marvel Avengers playset included with the Disney Infinity 2 Starter Pack will be released separately at a later date.

The digital Toy Box will be available at an introductory price of $19.99, later increasing to $29.99. UK prices have yet to be confirmed.

The Disney Infinity 2: Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack launches in the UK this Friday, September 19. A physical Toy Box Combo Pack, which features the Toy Box mode, disc and two playable characters, launches on November 7.
