New IP Dishonored continues to sell well and has far exceeded internal expectations, VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda Pete Hines has told Destructoid.

“I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter,” said Hines. “We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.”

The new IP has proven so successful that Hines now considers the title the start of a new franchise for the publisher.

“So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.”

The break out success of Dishonored goes against high placed opinion at EA and Ubisoft that new IP will struggle to gain a foothold this late in a console cycle.
