When Vessel of Hatred released last year, the new Spiritborn class was severely overpowered and had a tonne of build diversity. In the year since, not only has Blizzard massively nerfed the Diablo 4 class, but its diversity has also been stripped away.

Following the arrival of Season 10 PTR patch notes, it seems that Blizzard is actually making Spiritborn fun again (at least before we all switch to Paladin when the new expansion launches). But how exactly is the studio doing this?

Diablo 4 Season 10 changes Spirit Hall

The main change for Diablo 4 Season 10’s Spiritborn overhaul comes in the form of Spirit Hall, a class-specific skill that allows players to customise their character’s spirit. There are four spirits to choose from: Jaguar, Eagle, Gorilla and Centipede. Unfortunately, only one has been deemed viable for endgame players.

On launch, the diversity of Spirit Hall was commended, but now most Spitiborn players main Jaguar builds. Via WoWHead, this may change with the arrival of Season 10 as Blizzard introduces major overhauls to improve other spirit options within Spirit Hall.

In the patch notes for the next season, Blizzard has massively improved the Eagle spirit option for Spiritborn players. With “significant passive buffs to Movement Speed, Critical Strike Chance, and Vulnerable Damage”, the subclass is not only viable again, but a true competitor to Jaguar meta builds when paired Aspect of Plains Power.

Of course, Blizzard’s choices for Diablo 4 Season 10 PTR buffs may not make their way to the actual released version of the season later this year. As with any seasonal update, Blizzard will be using the PTR period as a testing ground to make sure buffs like these aren’t completely busted. (Let’s see how long it takes for the Infinite Damage exploit to appear this time!)
