While Diablo 4 is undoubtedly meeting, and in some cases surpassing, players’ expectations since its release, there’s one gameplay feature that Diablo fans wish was improved. Despite some players noting that they never encounter Treasure Goblins, players that have bumped into the affluent creatures claim that they’re just not worth the hassle, even when you know how to kill Treasure Goblins in Diablo 4.

Taking to the Diablo 4 Reddit, user featurecast sparked an interesting discussion about the money-hoarding creatures claiming that the Treasure Goblins in Diablo 4 are really easy to kill in comparison to their Diablo 3 counterparts and “never drop anything good.” In the post, they noted that they weren’t sure if this was the norm or if they just had bad luck but featurecast petitioned Blizzard to “up the loot tables on Treasure Goblins also HP buff makes them more challenging and rewarding. A challenging loot piñata you can actually get excited when you spot one.”

However, it didn’t seem that this was a case of bad luck unique to the original poster. In fact, many other players shared this sentiment with user Recovery_Water saying, “They’re underwhelming” adding that “they should offer a legendary and a small chance of a Greed portal.” Another user, seanidor, said, “It really does feel lacklustre when killing the goblins now.” They noted that they miss “their ‘hee heeeee’ laugh. My friends and I used to really enjoy hunting for one as soon as we heard that. Now I have to constantly keep an eye on my minimap to see if one appears on it.”

A number of players seemed to agree that the ethos of the Treasure Goblin has been lost in this current iteration of Diablo with one user saying, “Their laugh was a huge part of their gameplay and their ethos. It added a lot of character to the goblin by showing without telling.” However, a few players did note that the original poster’s complaints might be down to pure bad luck with players, such as ToothlessGibbon, noting that they “get a legendary more often than not.”

Perhaps this is an issue that will be addressed in a future update as Blizzard seem to be taking player feedback on board with other gameplay features now as the Diablo 4 development team recently decided to buff Nightmare Dungeons.
