With the launch of Diablo 4 Season 1, Season of the Malignant, players have been quick to point out various issues with Blizzard’s approach to seasonal and gameplay structure. While the recent Diablo 4 Campire Chat live stream has reassured some players, others are still not happy with the current issues that plague the game.

Taking to the Diablo 4 Reddit, players were quick to note their disapproval at the season’s emphasis on grinding renown. One player noted that they’ve “done it once already on the eternal realm, and I am about to complete it for a second time on S1. No more.” The Diablo 4 development team did announce changes to the Renown system before the launch of Season 1. Instead of having to rediscover Alters of Lilith, players who have already found them in a previous playthrough will already have the discovered should they jump into the new season.

However, players have been asking for more changes in how Renown works. One user suggested, “They should just change the way Renown is earned. Besides all these existing ways, taking part in world events, mobs on the map, and doing dungeons (not only the first time) should also reward renown. So players can organically earn Renown when they are doing other activities.” Alongside this, another player even suggested that they double or even triple the experience from quests. They said, “You know – it really wouldn’t be that bad if they doubled or tripled the exp from quests and made it so the end of quest chains always dropped a legendary+ instead of a crappy rare.”

Generally, players want the grind for Renown to come to an end. Instead, they’re looking for more ways to earn it organically through defeating mobs, completing world events and more.
