Blizzard’s Diablo 4 2025 roadmap is here, promising a host of new features coming to the awesome ARPG. With the next expansion pushed into 2026, Blizzard has announced a tonne of new seasonal updates that should help to make the game bigger and better than it already is.
In the recently released roadmap, Blizzard confirmed that it will be continuing its recent IP collaboration plans for the game. Following a recent combination of Diablo and World of Warcraft last year, Blizzard is making regular “IP Collab” releases a key feature of new seasons.
Diablo 4 goes hard on IP collabs
Confirmed in the Diablo 4 2025 roadmap, Blizzard will be releasing two “IP Collab” events this year. In the April to July season—which features the return of Belial and Boss Powers as a seasonal gimmick—a new IP will be added to the game.
The second IP collab for the game will release during the September to December season this year, alongside the addition of Chaos Powers to play with. Blizzard isn’t revealing exactly what IPs the game will be collaborating with. However, we do have out own hopes.
In the past, Blizzard’s other franchises have collaborated with Diablo in their own games. For example, Overwatch added a tonne of Diablo 4 themed skins for its characters including a Lilith skin for Moira, and an Azmodan skin for Hammond.
Hopefully, Blizzard’s IP collaborations for Diablo 4 stick with just Blizzard franchises. It would be cool to see Starcraft make even a minor return through a new Diablo season and I guess some Overwatch representation wouldn’t be too bad. However, there is always a worry that frequent collaborations with other games and franchises will lead to a watering down of the game’s appeal. After all, we’ve all seen what’s happened with Call of Duty. A bright pink Nikki Minaj skin, anyone?
