Blizzard is officially bringing back another Prime Evil for Diablo 4 Season 8. Coming in the upcoming super hard season, the new Uber Boss will be the most challenging fight in Blizzard’s ARPG yet.

Announced in the latest Campfire Chat, the return of Belial is part of a new initiative to bring some challenge back to the newest Diablo game. After a year of patches made the game too fast and focused on so-called “blasters”, Blizzard is hoping to change face with the new season.

Diablo 4 Season 8 brings back Belial

In the latest livestream, Blizzard confirmed that the newest endgame fight will indeed pit players against the Lord of Lies himself. Last seen as the final boss of Diablo 3’s third act, Belial is one of the Lesser Evils and a powerful foe (well, when not placed in Diablo 3’s arcade-y combat.)

In the newly revamped Diablo 4 Boss Ladder system, Belial will now be the big bad waiting at the end that will give players access to the “highest reward[s]” in the game.

Additionally, new bosses are being added from the Vessel of Hatred DLC. The new ladder will give players access to Urivar and the Harbinger of Hatred on the lower tiers of the new ladder.

Steal boss powers and use them for yourself

Alongside the changed bosses, Blizzard is adding a brand-new mechanic in the form of Boss Powers. After defeating a boss, whether that be World, Event or otherwise, you’ll be able to nab a power and add them to your build. With 24 powers in all, there’s a massive new slew of build combinations you can make.

Additionally, the typical summoning mechanic for endgame bosses has been buried. Instead of summoning material, bosses can be summoned for free, although you’ll need to grind out a Lair Key to open the new Hoard Chests they drop.

Continuing Blizzard’s new endgame multiplayer focus, more rewards will be available per additional party member. Now, every player will get their own chest that must be opened with their own Lair Key, and there’s a massive 33% increased chance of nabbing an extra unique item for every additional party member.
