Diablo 4 hinted once again in The Art of Diablo book

The ‘The Art of Diablo’ book affirms that a Diablo 4 announcement might be coming soon, as shared by Reddit user Frocharocha

Last week, the latest copy of German magazine GameStar showed an advertisement for an upcoming Diablo artbook. The advert for ‘The Art of Diablo’ claims the book features ‘over 500 artworks from Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo III and Diablo IV.’ Written by Jake Gerli with contributions from senior Blizzard writer, Robert Brooks, the book popped up on Amazon Germany for pre-order too. Though Amazon Germany has been bang on before, it was theorised that ‘Diablo IV’ referred to Diablo Immortal. That is the fourth installment of the series and was released onto mobile platforms, but Diablo fans did not welcome it with open arms.

However, pages of ‘The Art of Diablo’ book have now been shared with the populace and seem to imply that Diablo 4 is very much a thing. One image states that Ryan Metcalf, Victor Lee, and Mike Franchina have lent their talents to the new game. Metcalf and Lee have worked on Diablo 3, as character and environment artists respectively. Franchina is a freelance artist who has collaborated with Blizzard in the past, and specialises in the grim and gory.

And, one image depicts Lilith cradling the skull of Diablo, inferring that she will be the big bad. Blizzard has neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of a Diablo 4, and given that BlizzCon kicks off today, we will know whether the developer has a surprise in store soon. Leakers have also claimed that Diablo 2 will receive a remaster, and that Overwatch 2 is on the horizon. A busy, busy, busy BlizzCon indeed.

Planned protests will be held at the Anaheim Convention Centre, in reaction to Blizzard’s sanctions imposed on a Hearthstone player who expressed support for pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong. Though Blizzard lessened its penalties, the fallout continues to intensify for the developer; it lost one of its commercial sponsors due to its stance
