Diablo 4’s narrative has been one of its greatest attractions. The game is full of rich stories and interesting characters but one character, in particular, is getting a lot of love from fans. Donan’s tragic and memorable tale in Diablo 4 has really stuck with players, and those coming away from the game have been shouting out their appreciation to the character’s voice actor, James Goode.
Goode, who has appeared in other notable games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Diablo Immortal and Hitman 2 has been the target of Diablo 4 fans’ praise over the last 24 hours with one player posting to Reddit noting, “he did a fantastic job.” The player noted that, “you can hear the emotion every time he speaks. His gruffness. His stoicism. His anger. His sadness.” Other players were quick to agree with user luceatworld saying, “I don’t think I’ve ever felt so bad for a character in a game before. Donan was amazing.”
Some players describe moments where they nearly burst into tears undertaking his questline, with players like CaptainMeatfist imploring players not to skip any Donan cutscenes. Other players noted that the voice acting in Diablo 4 from every character was phenomenal. User PlatinumMode said, “All the voice acting I thought was fantastic. Lorath especially, and Lilith and Elias.” Pointing to Caroline Faber’s Lilith, another player agreed saying, “She had me in the dream trap. I was full-on team Lilith! Unfortunately, my sorc wasn’t as swayed and we had to do what she wanted.”
The voice acting isn’t the only thing players are loving about Diablo 4 as some players think Necro’s world drops are better looking than paid cosmetics. In other Diablo 4 news, players have uncovered some post-credit scenes and Diablo 4’s director has called the game “thick and heavy” as he compares it to… a guitar.
