Diablo 4 has struggled with itemisation since launch. While the game has come a long way since release, the core issue of making sure players are always getting rewarding loot has been a major sticking point for many fans of the series.
However, it seems that Blizzard is making huge strides towards improving endgame loot for Diablo 4 with the release of Season 10. Alongside fixing the busted Spiritborn class, Blizzard is overhauling endgame loot to make the game more exciting for longtime players.
Diablo 4 Season 10 overhauls loot
In the current Season 10 PTR patch notes, which could be changed by the time the update is in every player’s hands, Blizzard confirmed that major changes are coming to endgame loot.
Players diving through higher Torment Tiers will no longer be subject to terrible loot with Magic, Rare and other low-quality drops now being completely absent. Poor loot will also be removed entirely from side quests and the Tree of Whispers caches.
Additionally, Blizzard is increasing the drop rate of Uniques across every difficulty tier. With players essentially requiring Ancestral Uniques and powerful Greater Affixes for the hardest content in the game, Blizzard is making the grind easier for players so they can actually enjoy endgame content.
Lair Bosses are also being improved with larger loot drops with more Unique drops. Furthermore, every Lair Boss will have its own loot pool so that players can’t just pick a single boss to grind for the entire season.
All in all, these decisions are major improvements to Diablo 4 loot itemisation. While it needs to be put into practice to see just how improved the game is with these new changes, they all sound fantastic. (Particularly giving Lair Bosses their own loot pools. Why wasn’t this the case before?)
