Blizzard has promised an unfortunate dry spell for fans of its popular live-service ARPG Diablo 4. Following the game’s last major patch, the studio has promised thatthere will be no updates for the game until the release of Season 10.

Don’t expect any Diablo 4 updates anytime soon

The last major Diablo 4 patch released on July 1, which added the entirety of Season 9 Sins of the Horadrim as well as major balance changes. While Blizzard is usually very vocal regarding its update plans, the studio is now opting for silence.

Speaking on Twitter, Diablo Director of social and content marketing Adam Fletcher confirmed on Twitter that there will be no updates between seasons this time. Instead, players will need to wait until either the PTR release of Season 10 or its actual launch.

“We are in between seasons so nothing to share yet,” the Diablo developer told fans. “Next update around PTR for S10/S10 Launch.”

The news comes with a bit of whiplash following recent comments from Fletcher only a month ago where the Blizzard dev teased “some of the biggest changes that really hit home”. Additionally, a number of popular influencers were shown the next major updates for Diablo, teasing a returning Paladin and a return to Westmarch for the next expansion.

It’s clear that Blizzard has a lot planned for the future of Diablo 4, even if it won’t talk about it with fans. With the game’s 2025 roadmap coming to an end with the release of Season 10 later this year, the series’ general manager Rod Fergusson has confirmed the studio does have a decade-long roadmap internally for major updates.

Diablo’s next expansion isn’t scheduled to release until sometime in 2026, but it does seem like the studio is ramping up for a launch early next year. With this in mind, the next few seasons may simply be trying to prep fans for a major content overhaul when the next expansion actually releases which should be exciting for all players.
