The time you spend grinding out levels, searching for Mythic loot, and venturing through Sanctuary with a personally customized, demon-slaying warrior always makes deleting them a tough task. However, since Diablo 4 has limited character slots, you usually have no choice but to erase some to make room for new ones. That’s why one of the community’s constant requests since launch has been for the developers to introduce additional character slots.
Luckily, since the upcoming Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred expansion introduces the Spiritborn, the dev team is adding two more character slots. At least, that’s according to Diablo 4 production director Tiffany Wat in an interview with content creator Rob2628. This way, you can keep the Rogues, Druids, Sorcs, Barbarians, or Necros you’ve sunk tons of time into while allowing you to try out the new battle-tested, spirit-summoning class from Nahantu.
It’s also worth noting that since Diablo 4 launched with only 10 character slots, which eventually increased to 12 with the Season 2 update, the devs could subsequently add more in future seasons. Either that or a Rebirth feature like in Diablo 3 that allows you to start over with a character you’ve already made from scratch instead. Of course, both of these improvements are still speculation, as the dev team hasn’t announced their plans for addressing character slot issues yet.
But that’s not the only additional slot you can expect with VoH. In the same interview, Diablo 4 lead designer Rex Dickson revealed, “[They’ve] added an extra [stash] tab to make [storing items] easier,” as more materials and resources are set to be introduced as part of the expansion. The dev team will provide more specific details during their 2.0 PTR Campfire Chat on August 29 at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET, so make sure to set your calendars if you want to know more about any upcoming features.
