Members of the Diablo subreddit looking forward to the Diablo 4 Season 1 start time have been evaluating the classes, and appear to have selected one as most needing a buff when the new content drops later this month.
A thread by Krios92 spells out their thoughts, saying that “Currently, the Sorcerer is the worst class in the game, and in general it is probably the worst version of any Diablo, and I say this as a lover and habitual user of this class. The problems are many, and there is still no communication on any corrective patch.” Their grievances include the classes’ lack of resistance, and on how squishy they are in PVP. Furthermore, the poster claims the Paragon board is “completely broken” with “some glyphs are literally unusable (cold damage), the legendary nodes are almost all useless and almost all of the bonuses are based on resistances (which are currently broken.)”
They’re not the only one to feel this way either, it seems – with many saying they’re going to avoid using the class in Season 1 unless it gets some changes. “Wanted to run a fireball sorc,” begins Strictly_Meat “But I watched some gameplay and it looked painful, especially compared to my current hota barb. Think I’m going to torture myself slightly less with a Blight Minion Necro for S1.” Similarly, Kolossal thinks they’ve dodged a bullet, saying “I’m so f****g glad I rolled rogue at the last second after months of thinking I’d go with Sorc prior to release. Lvl 97 now.”
A lot of the contention around the class appears to be directly related to higher levels and the endgame, as Cookies_N_Grime explains. “Playing as a level 95 sorc I hear ya. The class is a chore to play at this point in higher tier dungeon, it’s just not fun. You have to always be hyper vigilant and watch and wait on your CDs while other classes can run in and face tank s***. It’s a tough class to play for sure.” Some users have suggestions for Blizzard to improve the class, however, such as Faemn. “They need to add one or two enchantment slots, rework our barriers to scale/last long to give us real survibaility and also give us better ways to apply vuln for the class to be viable.”
It remains to be seen if Blizzard will indeed make any changes to the class in the game’s next patch, which is due a couple of days before Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant begins itself. If you’re wanting to prove the naysayers wrong, check out our guide to the Diablo 4 best Sorcerer build.
