Adi Shankar has confirmed that he is working on an animated series based on Capcom’s hugely popular Devil May Cry.

It was previously rumoured that Shankar was working on a Legend of Zelda TV show, having said he was teaming up with a popular Japanese game developer on a new project. Turns out that it wasn’t Nintendo after all, but rather Capcom.

Speaking with IGN, Shankar revealed that he ‘acquired these rights so […] Hollywood [doesn’t] f*** this up.’ I’d like to think he’s talking about the fact Hollywood has made a right pig’s ear of Resident Evil, but that’s just me.

Interestingly, Devil May Cry will ‘join Castlevania in what we’re now calling the bootleg multiverse.’ How is this possible though, seeing as how both series are owned by different companies?

‘Let the speculation begin,’ was his reply. ‘You can read into that all you want.’

Meanwhile, Capcom is currently working on the next chapter in the Devil May Cry series for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. It’ll launch on March 8, 2019.
