Capcom has confirmed that stylish demon-slaying sequel Devil May Cry 5 will support microtransactions. Why? Because why not, apparently.

The software giant confirmed the news at the Tokyo Game Show over the weekend (via GameSpot), where it revealed players will be able to spend their hard-earned dough on upgrades for Dante, Nero, and V.

Devil May Cry 5 features Red Orbs as you would expect, which are used at Divinity Statues to upgrade your character. However, you'll also have the ability to spend money on more orbs to expedite the process.

'With giving people the ability to purchase Red Orbs, it’s something we want to give people as an option. If they want to save time and just want to get all the stuff at once, those people can do that. But on the other hand I don’t feel you have to get all the moves,' explained Capcom's Hideaki Itsuno. 'You should be able to play it the way you want to play it.'

While this is probably going to piss a few people off, it's worth remembering this isn't the first Devil May Cry game to use microtransactions. Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition also had the same feature too, which was no less disappointing.

Devil May Cry 5 is slicing its way into stores on March 8, 2019 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. Josh Wise has already gone hands-on with the game, and reckons it's already worthy of an SSS ranking.

Capcom recently confirmed in a new trailer that Trish and Lady will be returning for Devil May Cry 5.
