Detective Pikachu isn't even out yet for a couple of months, but apparently Legendary Pictures is so confident it'll pull in the punters that it's already planning a follow-up.

That's according to the Hollywood Reporter, which claims that Oren Uziel has been given the task of writing the film's script. Not much else is known at this point, although this won't be Uziel's first video game-related project, having previously worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Detective Pikachu is an adaptation of the 3DS game of the same name, which launched in the west last year.

The film is set to arrive in cinemas on May 10, and features Ryan Reynolds as the eponymous, little yellow fella. I'm frankly excited to see how this whole thing pans out; Reynolds can do no wrong in my eyes (let's forget about Green Lantern, okay?).
