Bungie has announced a digital upgrade plan for fans looking to pick up Destiny on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and upgrade them to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One at a later date.
Valid until January 15, 2015, anybody who purchases the Destiny digital base game, Digital Guardian Edition or Expansion Pass on the Xbox 360 Marketplace or PS3 Store will be able to upgrade to a digital copy on Xbox One or PS4 for free.
You’ll also be able to carry over your Guardians, progress, stats and gear to the next-gen version.
However, you’ll only be able to transfer your progress and upgrade to a next-gen copy within the same console family, meaning you won’t be able to move from Xbox 360 to PS4, for example.
You will, however, retain the license for both the last-gen and next-gen versions, meaning you can continue playing the last-gen game should you wish. For more details, visit Bungie’s website.
Destiny launches at midnight tonight on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Picking up the Ghost or Limited Edition? Head through here for the first unboxing.
