Destiny developer Bungie filed a trademark for something called Matter last Friday, as spotted by a ResetEra user.

It was filed under 'computer game software,' and 'entertainment services, namely, providing video games and video game competitions via the Internet.' At this stage, that's all we know. The description field contains no data whatsoever.

Earlier this year, Chinese tech juggernaut NetEase put $100 million into the developer for a minority stake, and a seat at the table. Like everything else with Matter at this super early stage, it's not known if that deal has anything to do with this news, but it has definitely led to some speculation. We'll just have to wait and see.

We do know there's a logo, though. You can see it at the top of this article. Look at it. LOOK AT IT! It's the word 'Matter' with some of the nice airbrushedy colours we've seen in the Rage 2 promo material. There's also a purple diamond in the E, which might mean something or might not.

Maybe the person who made the logo just likes purple diamonds. I know I do. They're lovely.
