The Xbox One Destiny beta will not run at 1080p when it rolls-out next week, but Bungie still hopes to achieve full HD on the platform in time for September’s launch, according to comments made by IGN.

Speaking to community manager David Dague during a livestream of the beta last night, IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey stated that “the final game will run at 1080p on both [PS4 & Xbox One], but we won’t see that on the beta version of Xbox”.

“There is always room for improvement,” Dague replied. “This beta is where we are in development right now. The fact that you are playing in the beta is of enormous help to us because it teaches us what this thing is, it teaches us how we can perfect it before launch… We are aiming for 1080p on all platforms.”

1080p footage will be revealed prior to the Xbox One beta rolling out, McCaffrey added. “That’s not how you’ll see it in the beta but it is how you’ll see it in September.”

It isn’t yet clear what resolution the Xbox One beta will run at. The PS4 beta is expected to render at 1080p.

It was reported last month that Bungie would be able to boost the Xbox One version to 1080p after Microsoft lifted restrictions on GPU resources reserved for Kinect.
