Destiny 2’s Crimson Days event is almost here and offers plenty of new goodies

Bungie wants to make sure you have your arse firmly planted on your seat this Valentine’s Day, with Destiny 2 seeing the return of the mushy Crimson Days event. Fortunately, there’s just enough time to get your excuses ready for your other half, unless her or she just so happens to love shooting aliens in the face on the most romantic day of the year.

Kicking off on February 13, Crimson Days is very much focused on the theme of partnership, with 2v2 Crucible Clash matches the order of the day. However, there’s a ’round-based twist’ thrown into the mix, and Bungie’s also offering a new take on the Burning Shrine map, which sees the Vex successfully altering our reality. 

During matches players must stick together as the only Light you’re going to soak up is from team work, with your abilities recharging at a faster rate if you both stay in close proximity. On the flip side, if you’re too far apart your enemies will receive a waypoint leading them straight to your location.

As for rewards, the best way to obtain Crimson Days goodies is to complete the Crucible playlist, which has been tweaked to reward single-character play. Rewards come packaged in a lovely new Crimson Engram, which features a ‘knock-out’ list ensuring no duplicates are coughed up.  

Regardless of what activity you take part in, each player will be able to snap up both an Illuminated Engram and Crimson Engram when levelling up during the Valentine’s Day-themed event. 

Bungie is also offering exclusive rewards for completing various tasks, which are outlined below. 

• Complete the milestone “Welcome to Crimson Days” by finishing five Crimson Days matches and visiting Lord Shaxx in the Tower to earn the Fire of the Crimson Days Emblem and the Tirastrella Ghost Shell.
• Complete matches in the Crimson Days Crucible playlist for a chance to earn the Undeterred Exotic Sparrow.
• Complete either the Leviathan Raid or the Raid Lair: Eater of Worlds to claim the Dieselpunk Exotic Ornament for Wardcliff Coil from the final chest.
• Complete the Nightfall Strike during the Crimson Days event to earn the Flaunting Dance Emote.
