Bungie has revealed some interesting Destiny 2 stats, confirming players have dismantled a whopping 807,635,124 shaders since the game's launch.
It's fair to say that shaders were not received all that well by the community. While the original shared-world shooter let you strap them on and change the appearance of all your gear, Destiny 2 inexplicably switched things up so they were not only a consumable item, but only altered a single piece of gear.
So yeah, this stat isn't really all that surprising to me. In fact, I honestly can't recall using a single shader in all my time on Destiny 2; the only thing I did was bin them.
That's not all though. As shaders take about a second to dismantle, Reddit user SlickeryV has done the maths and come to the conclusion that Destiny 2 players have wasted 25.59 years dismantling shaders.
That's just bloody ridiculous.
Fortunately, Bungie is changing things up with a future update, which allows you to dismantle shaders en mass.
This is the same update that will implement a number of key features for the game, including weapon slot changes and Heroic Story missions.
Destiny 2: Forsaken will launch on September 4 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, and will also be accompanied by a new bundle featuring the full game and all existing DLC. In the meantime, the Solstice of Heroes event is now live and kicking.
