Trion Worlds’ shooter-MMO Defiance is now free-to-play on Xbox 360. Players interested in giving it a whizz can download the game free of charge from the Xbox Live Marketplace or through Xbox.com.

The transition to free-to-play comes ahead of the tie-in TV show’s second season, which is due to air on Syfy in 2015. The MMO first rolled out as a premium title in April 2013, with Trion promising “massive co-op” in a universe that evolves alongside the TV series.

The game went free-to-play on PC in June and PS3 in August.
